LID is a program of self development designed for key public decision makers at district level (kabupaten) to enhance the understanding on the importance of integrated development that will secure a more sustainable future where economic, social, environmental and well-being sustainability aspects are taken into account.

LID is the learning media where the approach of policy improvement are introduced to key decision makers at the district level. The new approach will take into account sustainable development principles as the basis to formulate strategies toward integrated development. Case study analysis considered as the most efficient method to learn. Here we will learn from  existing/previous policy   and the experience of policy application from documented policy case study).  From the policy case study we can analyze the strengths (best practices) and weaknesses (challenges and problems)  and eformulate the new policy using sustainable integrated development strategies  that refers to wholistic approach for future benefits.

The intended audiences for this training are Individuals involved in the formulation (key position) process of public policies at district level.  They can represent district government agencies or local legislative body.

LID program will share knowledge to:

1. Deepening the understanding of sustainable development concept, the importance of integrated development, and on how both aspects are translated into development strategies.
2. Build the Analytical Capacity on the existing/previous policies, and new policies within sustainable development framework..
3. Develop Network with various development experts, innovative-progressive leaders, and potential donor agencies

1. A collection of 29 case studies on public policies covers various issues and regions (see list of case studies below)
2. Flexible curricula: according to the needs (the curricula covers conceptual framework, dialogue, site visit, producing Road Map document on Development Strategy, courtesy call with key government officials and potential donor agencies)
3. Module of Sustainable Development, Leadership for Integrated Development and Decentralization
4. Trained Facilitators using case studies for the learning and analysis process
5. Website of LID www.forplid.net containing the basic information, popular articles on sustainable development, discussion forum, as well as innovations or new ideas, with interactive approach.

Cases will be accumulated to complete the list and address the dynamic issues of development

Learning from a case study is a quick learning process. The case study will be analyzed using conceptual framework of sustainable development and integrated development toward development strategy, to understand the problems.  This is the use of critical and conceptual thinking that will make it easy for the participants to analyze the case study. The length of LID program will depends on the findings from the district’s needs & problems, reflected in the agreement document between   the district (partner)  and LEAD Indonesia/YPB (service provider).

In general, available options for the program are:

YPB provides pro bono services of  LID program with the support from LEAD International as the two organizations promote sustainable development. However, YPB strongly encouraged the contribution of the district partner in the implementation of LID program to build strong ownership and commitment for the program. The joint efforts between the district partner and YPB will be formulated in the document of collaboration agreement.
